Daniel Yip of JLL receives ISHC Rising Star Award Asia at HICAP in Hong Kong

Hong Kong (13 November 2019): TheInternational Society of Hospitality Consultants (ISHC) awarded Daniel Yip, Senior Vice President of Strategic Advisory and Asset Management, Asia of JLL Hotels & Hospitality the Rising Star Award during the Hotel Investment Conference Asia Pacific (HICAP) at the Kerry Hotel Hong Kong.

ISHC launched the Rising Star Award Asia in 2014 in partnership with HICAP to recognize young, emerging leaders in the Asia hospitality community. Nomination criteria requires an individual be 35 years or younger, currently working and living in Asia and working in the hospitality development and/or investment field. Past Rising Star Award Asia recipients include Kieran Bestall (2018), Peter Harper (2017), Kiichi Mashita (2016), Nihat Ercan (2015) and Christopher Hur (2014).

Upon receiving notification of the award, Daniel commented, “I am extremely humbled by this award and this comes as a great surprise. I would like to sincerely thank you all for setting up such an award and organizing the conference.”

Daniel is focused on operator selections, asset management and hotel strategic advice throughout the Asia Pacific region. He also assists with the publication of several hotel industry research reports across Asia. Daniel has successfully led numerous hotel management and hotel lease operator selection assignments across a wide range of markets. In addition, Daniel is involved in the pre-opening and ongoing asset management and operational spot reviews for a number of hotels and resorts across Asia.

As a trained hospitality lawyer, Daniel has had extensive experience in reviewing various contracts with Operators and Owners including hotel management agreements and sale and purchase agreement negotiations. In his time as a lawyer, he has worked with both Owners and Operators across Australia and Asia and has a unique position of knowing the relative positions taken by both parties across a number of jurisdictions. Prior to joining JLL, Daniel worked at Ryan Lawyers, a specialist hotels and hospitality law firm where he negotiated a range of hospitality related contracts on various deals in Australia, Singapore, Indonesia, Maldives and Thailand.

Tony Ryan, ISHC, Managing Director, Global Mergers And Acquisitions for JLL nominated Daniel for the award and said, “Dan has been very successful by being able to blend his legal knowledge, experience and expertise with strong commercial and financial acumen. Dan’s skills and approach has been very well received by clients.”

Andrea Belfanti, Executive Director of ISHC presented the Rising Star Award to Daniel at HICAP and commented, “Thank you to the organizers of the HICAP conference for their partnership and making this award possible.
