ISHC Announces Chip Conley as the 2012 Pioneer Award Winner

The International Society of Hospitality Consultants (ISHC) announces Chip Conley, founder and executive chairman of Joie de Vivre, as the 2012 Pioneer Award winner. The 2012 ISHC Pioneer Award will be presented to Chip Conley on Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at the Americas Lodging Investment Summit (ALIS) in Los Angeles, California. Sean Hennessey, Chairman of ISHC and CEO, Lodging Advisors LLC, and Bonnie Buckhiester, President of ISHC and President and CEO, Buckhiester Management USA Inc. will present the award on behalf of ISHC.

Chip Conley is the founder and executive chairman of Joie de Vivre, California’s largest boutique hotel company consisting of over 40 award-winning hotels, spas and restaurants.  Chip and his company’s time-tested techniques and transformational leadership practices have been featured in Fast Company, Fortune and the Wall Street Journal.  Also a best-selling author, Chip illustrates the theory that transformed his business and shares his unique prescription for success (even in turbulent times) in his latest book PEAK: How Great Companies Get Their Mojo from Maslow (Jossey-Bass 2007). Honored by the San Francisco Business Times as the “Most Innovative CEO” in the Bay Area, Chip is the founder of San Francisco’s annual Celebrity Pool Toss fundraiser, which has raised more than million for families in San Francisco’s Tenderloin District. Chip received his BA and MBA from Stanford University and was bestowed an honorary doctorate in psychology from Saybrook Graduate School in 2009.

The Pioneer Award was established in 1996 by ISHC to recognize individuals making an outstanding contribution, achievement and or improvement in the hospitality industry. The award is presented each year at the Americas Lodging Investment Conference.
