The inaugural Rising Star Award was presented to Rafael Bolivar, a financial analyst in the real estate and hospitality practice with McConnell Valdes, at the recent Caribbean Hotel Resort Investment Summit (CHRIS) in Miami.

The Rising Star award was created by the International Society of Hospitality Consultants (ISHC) in collaboration with BHN to recognize emerging leadership talent in the hospitality industry. Award criteria require that a nominee be under 35 years of age; currently working and living in the Caribbean and have a minimum of two of the most recent five years hospitality experience living and working in the Caribbean.  A screening committee and a panel of judges comprised of hotel industry leaders selected Rafael as the winner of this prestigious award from among over 20 candidates.

Lori Raleigh, Executive Director of the ISHC, noted that “Rafael in addition to his excellent achievements has also been lauded for his tremendous work ethic and integrity and for his reputation for always seeking to move projects forward in a very positive, respectful and constructive way.”

“We’re delighted to work with the ISHC in establishing this important Award,” said Jim Burba, president of BHN.  “Tourism is such a vital component of the national economies throughout the Caribbean, so it makes so much sense to be able to honor the ‘best-of-the-best’ of our future leaders in front of the investment community gathered at CHRIS,” Burba added.
